Nope. Barred rocks also have yellow legs, not slate. Maybe it is a black australorp, but I'm not sure. This 4 week old black chick is suppose to be a female Barred Rock I purchased from McMurray's. I see no barrs on it like the other female Barred Rock they sent me as you can see from the pictures. Are Barred Rocks sometimes solid black???
Barred is a variety of the Plymouth Rock breed. There are Black Plymouth Rocks but I doubt that is what yours is. Probably a hatchery mix-up.This 4 week old black chick is suppose to be a female Barred Rock I purchased from McMurray's. Thank you! I specifically requested either a Barred Rock or Ameraucana as a subsitute, so I am so disappointed my request wasn't fulfilled. But she is very sweet.Maybe an australorp? Definitely not a BR, that's for sure.

It could be an ameraucana. I'm not sure what comb type they're supposed to have, though.Thank you! I specifically requested either a Barred Rock or Ameraucana as a subsitute, so I am so disappointed my request wasn't fulfilled. But she is very sweet.
