Yeah I bought 2 pullets last summer that were 2 weeks old at the time. Lets just say, I'm hatching my own chicks from the pair now

I wonder how many of the mistakes that are made are not a mistake in the sexing but just plain throwing them in the wrong section, what i mean is like if you are pitting cherries and you goof and throw the pit in the cherry bowl and the cherry in the pit bowl:lol:

One thing I have thought of with our feed store. i dont know how yours is, but here you cant order them, they just keep the breeds mixed up together. They do have them sexed, but I wonder how many people pick up a pullet to look at it, and put it back down in the rooster box, and noone ever has a clue what happened.

Just a thought!

Check where the feed store gets their chicks from. Some of the small feed stores buy them from individuals and guess sex them. If they are from a hatchery they will most likely be the sex they are supposed to be.

They get certain breeds sexed from the hatchery but the hatcheries only gurantee up to a certain percentage. In the 90%s but there will still be mistakes and they won't be from the feedstore. The feed store just gets in what the hatchery says are pullets. Same as if you ordered directly from the hatchery yourself.

My feed store orders sexed pullets and sometimes are wrong, but from what I hear, they are pretty good at sexing at the hatcheries 90% according to most sites. Also, if they aren't sexed my store gets sexlinks.

I'd trust it. You may get one or 2 roos, but nothing too bad.

Probably better odds than eggs hatched in the bator... 50/50 there.
