They want to make it ALL illegal. What do you think of Senate Bill 510

Personally, I went to govtrack.us and looked up S510 and read the summary and there is no section that states anything about a personal garden or personal livestock. Am I missing something?

The law uses the term "food producer" I believe. This language will be interpreted by the current FDA. The current version in the Senate has an amendment which excludes food producers making under $500,000/yr. Before the news broke about the constitutionality of the Senate version, the news was that big Ag was actually going to look for the House NOT to pass the Senate version. So that amendment was clearly a big win for the small farmers and big Ag is not happy about it. My guess is that nothing will now be passed this year. Especially with the House Republicans saying they will Filibuster everything until the current tax rates are preserved.

I'm reading it the same way MooseHabit, I think this is going to work against big-ag. I think the whole fear factor that's been started about this is because the big companies are now going to be made accountable and they want people to freak out and get this bill squashed.

I just have to hope the officer doesn't realize REAL ground parrots are grass-green in color. Of course, I can always say mine are moulting.

Both FL senators voted YEA...thought about moving back to WV, but they voted YEA as well!
Georgia & Texas are looking pretty good right about now...are there any places in either that it doesnt snow?

Me thinks they use language that throws people off of what is really going on. They put in broad terms that are not defined and that they can use to their advantage when they get ready to inforce this. Everything I heard and read they are trying to do away with backyard gardening and farming (animal husbandry) and such trying to get people use to being told what to do, when to go to work, when to take a bath, when to go pee, etc, you get the point.
Don 't count on O'Bama to veto anything he'll pass what he is told to pass and veto what he is told to veto.

Yeah, at least here in Arkansas Blanche Lincoln will be gone come January. Maybe she'll go back to Virginia, and disappear out of everyones lives and never return.

Unfortunately Georgia is still a large agricultural state.....so many here would be affected.

My question is simply this, if the government cannot effectively control

Social Security
The National Debt
Homeland Security
Medicare/Medicaid
Classified Information Leaks (wikileaks)
Oil independence
etc
etc

Who up there (or anywhere) could possibly think that they could properly control the food source(s)?

Sounds like another moronic way to gain power, spend OUR money, and insure BIG business stays in the hip pocket of the politician

Sorry for the rant....getting off my soapbox now
