This is my first batch of eggs! They are silkies and I have 11 in the incubator. Today is day 20 and at 11 AM this morning I noticed 2 pips! Then they started to zip and wala! There were two beautiful silkie chicks in my incubator! I went to the bathroom and out popped one more! I'm so excited!!!

They are adorable.. and perfect!

My concern is that they are all huddling in one spot by a sponge. I'm guessing they like sponges. And they are crowding around these three eggs that haven't hatched yet. Is this ok? Will the eggs hatch ok? There were cracks in the shell this morning. I'm worried the chicks are bumping into them too much and stuff. Or maybe I'm just too overly protective. Hehe.

Edit to say: 10 have hatched!

And the eggs that I was worried about hatched!! So the chicks bumping into them didn't affect them! Maybe delayed them a bit.

I have 40 eggs in my bator, and three are pipped that I can see right now.
But I'm worried, since the temp got over 102 for a short period, I didnt think any would hatch, but I will wait and see.

Oooh good luck you guys!

And my temps have been up and down a degree or so. My room is right by the air conditioner. I didn't think it would be a problem but I guess it is and evidently it didn't bother these chickies.

And in the beginning of the incubating process on Day 1 the temp reached like 105 degrees F because I didn't plan it out correctly and I didn't set the incubator for 24 hours. I was so worried I hurt them

This is my first try at incubating.

Well I can now see five eggs that have pipped, but none have hatched yet

I'm worried there just gonna pip and thats it. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from pipping to hatching?

Mine are pipping right now as I type this. One for sure has pipped. Still waiting to see how many more pip. Congrats on yours!

My first one pipped/cracked the shell (is that the same as pipping?) yesterday in the evening. I guess it took a break over night and then once I got up in the morning I saw the pip hole had gotten cracked more. So of course I stayed glued to the bator for about an hour. Lol. It zipped and hatched at 11 AM!

Also, one of my eggs pipped today at around 11 AM. But I haven't seen it move or make any progress since then so.. I don't know. I guess we will have to wait together!

Chicken_china_mom congrats, good luck, and thank you!
