aw come on Shelley- you KNOW we're crazy! HA! and I've always kept them inside for the first two weeks- I have a big storage room that they can stink up because it's empty! It doesn't get that cold here (we're currently having 50 degree lows at night- hope that lasts!) so after a few weeks they can go outside and they'll be fine.
and yes! These are some of the grandbabies of your birds!
I will have to post up more pictures and have you help me with some of the colors- there are some that are new to me! I took some more photos last night as I moved them to the brooder- and I took VIDEO- is there any way to post up a video? you guys would love it- it was like a quail mosh-pit! lol!
in this pic you can see front and to the left of the golden? one my little red guy with black feet-he's the only full reddish one that I have...all the rest are either tuxedo or the wild stripey guys...
here is a cute one- they like to snuggle on a fabric sample
my male is a reddish tuxedo (strange but I don't think I have a picture of him...) so I'm curious about these reddish chicks to know what they are exactly. I also have individual pictures of the first 13 to hatch. 2 more hatched last night and will join their friends in the brooder tonight.
so that's 15 chicks out of 24 viable eggs (I actually did have one more hatch, come out of the egg OK, but he's probably not fully developed- he can kick his legs but can't stand up on his own...it's like something is wrong with his neck or back...) so 16/24 hatched, and 15/24 are healthy. Not too bad for my 2nd hatching attempt
It's raining here, and our phone lines mess up when it rains. So this will be the condensed version since the other didn't send
I believe the one that is red with black legs is a rosetta, or it could be a golden range. I don't think it's a red, they are not that dark as adults, so I wouldn't think they'd be that dark as chicks.
had one more hatch- 2 day later than the others...he was fluffy in the bator when i got home from work last week! So the total is 16 healthy babies out of 24 viable eggs 66% hatch rate
congrats Kullas on getting 30! that is awesome!
thanks Shelley for commenting on the color- the late hatcher was very similar color to the black-footed reddish guy- I've never had that color before so I'm excited to see them grow up and feather out! I'll take more photos when that happens and we can confirm if they are rosettas

I've had a number of reptiles over the years (veiled chameleons, iguanas, and a wonderful savannah monitor) and crickets are WAY more stinky and annoying than quail IMHO...you are brave to have so many crickets in the house!
