I'm at 18. :( I'm calling today and I'll let ya'll know what they say.

I'm not sure I want to go through this again. I may just hunt around here and see what I can find. I just worry so about some places cuz we live in the country and some places aren't clean. I don't want to infect my flock ya know?

I don't know off the top of my head where Meyer or Murray are, but I chose Ideal because it was one of the closest hatcheries to Colorado. I ordered 10, got an extra 10 packing peanuts, and only have one problem, a crossbeak. I'm pretty happy with Ideal so far, I'll probably be ordering some ornamentals in late spring if I don't find any locally.
 
McMurray is located in Webster City, Iowa. Meyer is located in Polk, Ohio.

I called them and get this... they are sending me 29 more to replace the rainbow layers. I did order some of the grow gel.

I hope I made the right decision. Oh, and they don't do heat packs.
 
They are replacing mine too... I lost 13 total. I'm really worried about this, but am hoping for the best. They'll be sending me extras as well. I did ask that send similar sized chicks to avoid them getting stomped.

I ordered six chicks from ideal poultry and got 23. 17 of them are all male black australorps, the others are blue Cochin bantams btb Japanese and Americauna bantams. I got them Tuesday of last week, and haven't lost a single one, thank god. Sorry about your loses, you should certainly contact them (the hatchery) and tell them about your losses, they should either refund you for the lost chicks or if you lost enough of them reship more out.

My box had a divider in it. I had the wee peeps on oneside and the chickzillas on the other. I think the temps got to them tho. I'm like you, I'm hoping that I did the right thing. I also orderd some grow gel. Found out that it's an enzyme for their gut.

The big ones now are laying like dead chicks totally freaking me out. They are so happy that they're "napping" like that. Lil turds! LOL
