It's called Gro-Gel....McMurray sent it with the order, it's got something in it, like vitamins, whatever, and you mix it with water so they get water, too.....I think one of my little cochins may end up dying...all of the chicks are very vibrant and healthy, but this one is smaller than the rest and is lagging behind. I tried putting some honey on its tongue, but whoever came up with that idea failed to mention how difficult it is to keep a chick's mouth open while attempting to put honey in there. LOL!!! I hope he/she makes it...

I'm not sure what your mystery chick is, but I love the pics, esp. the one with your dog's nose in it! Good luck with your weak chick. I gave any weaker chicks sugar water at first, and then a warm mash made with chick starter. I had either my kids or husband help, if necessary.

I really don't think she's gonna make it.....I just have that feeling.....the others are so active I can't keep them still, but this one is just not quite right. She's A LOT smaller than the others, and the just hatched Sunday (or maybe Monday, gotta check the invoice) whatever the case, they aren't that old, and you can tell she's smaller than the rest. I just wish it wasn't one of the cochins!!! I got an extra leghorn or white rock, but not an extra cochin!!! Maybe it's a roo....I have 2 of those....Poor chickie....

I had 2 in my last order that were on their way out when I got the box. I softened chick starter with warm water, put it in the blender with a hard boiled egg and alittle sugar. Mixed it up and put some on a spoon. I put the chicks one at a time, on my table and litteraly stuck the spoon full in their face. They got the idea, ate some of the mix, then became VERY active and starting eating and drinking on their own right away. They pulled right through and after that were never lagging behind again. You may give it a try.

This one can't even hold its head up. It looks almost like its neck didn't develop right, cause it acts like it's still curled up in the shell. Hubby's holding her right now....seems like she's getting ready to go, and I'm not sure if I should just cull her or let her go on her own. I don't think she's gonna get better.

Well, everyone....one of my cochins was put down. Hubby did it, very quick. I decided to cull her because she could not drink, and I did not want her to die of starvation or hunger. I was shocked by how quick it was, although I was upset a bit. It was so cute!!! RIP, nameless chickie.....

I am so sorry for you, perhaps you should call her angel, because she will be watching over the rest of your flock for you in spirit. How kind of you to help her not to suffer and put her at peace. Trudy
