I have a Buff Orpington that is about 2 years old. Up to now she has laid eggs with strong shells. 3 weeks ago she was broody and was in chicken jail for 3 days and broke. A week later I noticed she had very loose bowels. We were having very hot and humid weather so I gave electrolytes and probiotics for 3 days. Beginning of this week she began laying again but the shells are very thin and I have broken 2 just picking them up. I have always fed Purina Layena Omega 3 with Oyster Strong system. The 2 other hens have had no problems at all. Any ideas or suggestions?

It may help to give your girls an all flock feed with oyster shells offered separately. Non-layers male & female alike (& all ages) do not need and can be harmed by the calcium added to layer feed. I doubt that's your problem, though. There are others here who can offer suggestions. I mostly chimed in to help keep your thread active & more visible--and to give my pitch for not giving calcium in the feed. 😉
