My problem is too many relatives. When family gets together (its all in-laws: my family is too far away), its every single one of them. We cannot have a family get together with less than 35 people. If a few guests come, it can approach 50. This includes third cousins, and grand-nieces, and peoples' spouses, and it just grows and grows. We usually just get together for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Easter, sometimes other holidays. There are only three homes that all these people get together in, mine included. I have proclaimed that my house is too small for all these people, and that I will do July 4th (they can mostly be outside), but no other holidays. Boy have I been getting the guilt trip for not doing Christmas. Two of my SIL's are the only ones that do any significant cooking and helping. Most of them sit around eating and socializing and asking when the coffee and dessert are going to be ready. I am just getting too old and tired for all this. I would love to spend a major holiday with just my immediate family. Sigh....... Thanks for listening, that was a good vent.
