THings to do while waiting for the chicks to hatch?

Seems like we are all waiting on our chicks I ran into te room like 38 times without opening the bator. My dishes are washed the floor cleaned. Dinner only takes minutes today and isnt served until 7pm anyways.I couldnt get to Wallyworld today for fabric. GRRRRR iam going bananas.
I will bake a cake with chocolate frosting now and tomorrow i'll make a cherry swirl cheese cake.

I cleaned my house and made a batch of brownies. Now I've decided to just sit and stare at them. Oh, and eat my brownies while I do it.

This whole experience will add another 10 pounds to the old midsection.

I put out mulch.

I went and got a wading pool for my geese.

I set up a brooder for any hatchlings.

I made spaghetti and garlic bread.

I ate an ice cream cone.

Now I am going to do my barn chores.

I do have more pips but no hatches yet.

I had a visitor, the egg peeped, bought some grocerys, bought another hygrometer, then I came home and found the wind had blown open a whole bag of aluminum cans all over my yard across the road and into the neighbors yard. So I spent a long time picking those up, me and the dog looked at the incubator and saw something poke out the pip, then we went outside and looked at the chickens and told them to go outside (they were in the coop), accepted eggs from the postman and on the package reading in big letters do not deliver call #....... , came back in and made sugar cookies, now me and the dog are eating them and i am on the computer

I think I might go get a bag of lime for the compost and yard

I worked on the rabbit hutch.
I filled feeders and waterers.
I cleaned under all the roosts.
I looked at all the chicken dust in the barn and just shook my head.
I cleaned up a winters worth of doggy poo in the back yard. (12 of the little buggers)
I am now on the puter answering email and checking in on BYC.
I have until May first for my next hatch. Guess I better build another brooder since both of the ones I have are full.
OH where will it all end?
Last week when I went to the feed store for chicken food I said no more chickens when I found out the feed had gone up $3 per 50# bag. I deffinately need help with this addiction. Is there a 12 step plan for chickaholics?

Day 19 for mine. I worked today......6:30am - 4:00pm, came home and vet was here to inseminate my mare, thank god I don't have to find an incubator big enough for a horse

After vet left came in anch checked the bator, looks like a couple have moved, but no pips. Have to finish cleaning the spare room as my parents will be here tomorrow night for several days. Hopefully I can stay busy enough with that I don't stress over my eggs.
Bought a new flashlight from work, will try it out tonight, still have to go to the barn to clean stalls and feed. Still have to work tomorrow, but then I am off until Wednesday, so another day to stay busy and hopefully pips and babies any day.

Stared at the temps/humidity about 5000 times on BOTH incubators. Turned the eggs. Checked the temps/humidity again.

Cleaned up barf/unknown cat substance from livingroom floor.

Went to work.

At work, I popped onto BYC, eggbid & eBay a few times...

Mostly, I'm just planning out my new coop(s). It started off as an additional coop...but now, I'm thinking it may be best to do several small coops.

That way, I can get a few more Sultans & the D'Uccles I want--and not have to have monstorous coops for them...and then I can build a shelter for my 'scovies & my geese (if they hatch)

Oh and a small coop for my other birds....

See what I mean?

I've been up at night thinking about this--and checking the incubators!

I went out and sat on the park bench to watch my 2 black bantam cochins mosey around the yard and 1/2 hour later came in and a CHICK

I cannot believe it and the other one has a big crack in the egg now too.... and I havent opened the bator in days!!!!!
