Shes 84 this year, an healthier than most 30 year olds.

I was born in 1974 and watched 1 channel at night. Hee Haw and the Muppet show were usually the programs that I was interested in.. Oh an Seame Street! I remember Dad broke down and bought a satellite dish, a huge white monster that you cranked by hand to tune in satellites, lol. Mom and Dad used a walkie talkie to tune it in. I remember the disney channel in it's first years. it actually aired the 1950 mickey mouse club!! I also remember the disney movies about the wild animals, I loved the narrators voice on those old movies..they never play THAT anymore.. it's usually crap programming now!!

Those are totally still around. I love Breyers (most were my mom's but Walmart and toy shops have them still) and Mad is sold at our supermarket Hannaford.

I've looked at the Mad Magazines lately, for some reason, they're not as funny as the used to be.........you know, as they were back in my day.

Ok, so here's my list and it probably copies a lot of y'alls......
Riding in the very back of the LTD wagon seats down late at night to pick up my dad from work - we on ly had one car.

T-ball and only getting a trophy if you won

Blue laws and everything closed on Sunday

going to the 5 and dime and only spending a dime

milk man delivering milk in a bag

crying about coming in after dark and wanting to play outside

big tv - on the floor in a wood cabinet that would rival the size of some of the current year model cars.

going in to Kroger to buy my dad cigarettes cause he didn't want to get out of the car. I had his brand memorized at 10.

filling my tank on $10 - and I had a 15 gallon tank.

strawberry shortcake and the purple pie man, smurfs, bugs bunny and REAL saturday morning cartoons.

rotary dial phone on the wall - with a cord a mile long so you could talk and cook dinner at the same time.

no McDonald's in my home town til I was probably 8 or 9 and then we only got to go there as a "treat".

Howdy doody, buffalo bob, mr greenjeans, captain kangaroo, and bozo the clown

sha na na, statler brothers, the mandrel sisters and hee haw

Oh and tons of other stuff I can't think of right now......

oh, and two cute stories.....

when my dd was about 4 she said to me "mommy I wanna listen to the pooh story" and I said to her "what pooh story". She said "the one on the big cd."

I laughed like crazy - she meant the Winnie the Pooh RECORD (that's a big black disc made of vinyl for you youngsters!) I had in the cabinet from when I was a kid.

A couple years later, her younger brother came home from school all proud of himself because " I got to say the pledge of allegience on the internet."

I said, "you mean the intercom."

kids.......

I didnt come along until '83 so I am somewhat exempt from this topic, but I do remember a ton of the stuff listed bc apparently my parents had trouble leaving the '70's behind....
