Things you wish you could say

My dog on the shelters website....

Listed as potty trained : no. not even close.
Listed as crate trained : he TORE apart a wire crate when we put him inside
Cat friendly : Learned to live with the cats (or the cats learned to live with him) he chases them and barks at them when he see's them
Dog friendly : he has attacked several dogs

Shelters lie to get dogs out of their care.

Unfortunately, if I'm remembering the articles I've read on that, it's the females that don't hatch.
I can't remember which it is but one sex hatches better at higher temperatures and one sex hatches better at lower temperatures.

I know that I should ask what the incubator temperature was when someone complains about getting 7 cockerels out of 10 chicks.

The temperature that you incubate at can affect which gender will hatch or not hatch. It does not change the gender of the potential hatchling.

Here's a writeup of one experiment--no change in gender ratios, just more dead chicks at higher or lower temperatures. (Both genders died at matching rates when it was hotter, and likewise when it was cooler.)

I know that I should ask what the incubator temperature was when someone complains about getting 7 cockerels out of 10 chicks.
I would start by asking how many eggs were set. If every egg did hatch, then there's no way to get more pullets (although if you found a way to selectively kill cockerels with temperature, then you could get less of them.)

This is why you predator proof your pens.
