Things you wish you could say

They aren't super mean, its more annoying. The problem is that we see them like 3 times a week (my siblings and them are really close friends [I don't see how]). I'm not the kind of person who gets emotional of flustered when ever they tease me, more like I want to punch them in the face. I actually don't even know if they know that they are being mean, they just are.
Then maybe if they aren't really bullies, just maybe are dumb to express themselves you should make a remark about it like "are you usually mean or am I just that special to you?". Depending on their reaction you can gouge if they are really mean spirited kids. There are many things you can and should do, no one has the right to make you feel bad for no reason at all.

Oh definitely, I agree, it's the parents fault (same with dogs). And sure you treat a good behavior with positive stimulus. I just know parents that also try to treat bad behaviors with patience, "talking" nicely to the child and the kids definitely do not stop (nor would a dog, if a dog barks, bites, you will not stop it by petting it).
This applies to dogs, as well as children. If you want to train your child, buy a dog training book. The good ones will emphasize for you to be 1) consistent, 2) kind, and 3) full of praise when they act like they should.

It's not hard. And it's not the child's or dog's fault.

Not the quote I was looking for, but it applies. This is not a modern problem.

Lead by example and hold others to the same standards. I address unmannered children in stores. Nary a parent has confronted me. I showed them how to do their job.
My favorite quote in that vein was from the commander of the 1813 Pensacola Militia who complained of his new troops; "They are a calico generation, without love of self or country."

And when people ask me for the best breed of rooster to fight off a fox or a raccoon....!

Seriously, if a rooster could fight off a predator, wouldn't the feral chickens be taking over the parking lots and lakes and pooping on the sidewalks? (That's what the Canadian geese do, here in Saint Louis, stopping point on their flyway!)
And here's what I am talking about...yes, those are goose poops on the sidewalk, along Manchester road in Ballwin, Saint Louis County, Missouri. It's March, and the Canada geese are everywhere!

And not a feral chicken in sight!

Just because someone doesn't raise birds how you do or raises bird you haven't had hood luck with doesn't mean they're terrible and their birds will die
I have a friend whose "brooder" was an empty cardboard boot box under a desk lamp with an old oven rack on top to keep the chicks from jumping out.

In 2019 her OEG ginger red reserve champion "baby" beat my OEG ginger red bantam who was raised by his very own OEG ginger red mother hen; my guy made only third place.

The old saying goes, "There's more than one way to skin a cat." Not politically correct these days, maybe, but the basic idea is still true.
