Things you wish you could say

You were warned. Repeatedly. You didn't listen. Now there are consequences.
I love it when I can say this to my children! I mean, I'm sad for them although they brought whatever it was on themselves, but responsible parenting makes me happy, and I'm glad I'm able to do that for them.

And then I determinedly don't laugh at the resultant overly dramatic weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, which is inevitably the over-reaction to whatever consequence was imposed.

Too few parents have that attitude. If more parents were like you society would be far better off for it

Honestly all the back and forth over picking DST or standard time is ridiculous in my mind. Split the time 50/50 and be done with it already!! If we are picking times randomly anyway who says it has to be on the top of the hour? Next time change, switch it by 30 min. Boom. Done. Good grief!
That actually kind of sucks when it comes to scheduling international meetings. India has a time zone that is 30 minutes offset, and it made scheduling meetings interesting.

Sounds like my house 🤣

When mine were little I made them pronounce judgment on themselves.

ME: what did mommy say?

CHILD: not to do that.

ME: And what did mommy say would happen if you did that?

CHILD: that I would get a spankin.

ME. Okay. Turn around.
Hahahaha!

And then there's the times when I watch them internally debate about whether the desired item/action is worth suffering the stated punishment for disobedience. They reaaaalllly have to consider things sometimes. (and I must NOT laugh! But it's so hard - the decision process is all over their faces!)

My kids were so different. My son, the eldest (when young) would not do a thing if I told him not to. His sister, 2 years younger ... totally opposite. If you told her not to touch the candle flame because it was hot and would hurt ... yeah, you guessed it, lol. 🙄
Guess who touched the waffle maker after being told not to.
