Some of my siblings hate oatmeal. I haven't had a good warm bowl in a week or so.I have oatmeal (old fashioned oats) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and steel cut oats Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and sometimes Saturday dinner.
I have never heard that in the UK. I grew up (in the UK) and it was “A watched pot never boils”In the USA, we say, " A watched pot doesn't boil," meaning if you just stand there and wait, it will seem like forever until the water boils.
In England (so I've been told), the phrase is, "A watched pot doesn't boil over," which makes more sense to me.
Like when I forgot that I left the oatmeal on high and took the dog out to go potty...Not too much mess, thank goodness.
Interesting! I read the England version somewhere, or someone told me.I have never heard that in the UK. I grew up (in the UK) and it was “A watches pot never boils”
I meant watched not watches. Typo. Corrected it.Interesting! I read the England version somewhere, or someone told me.
Yeah, I’ve been there, done that. Just recently I walked away from a pot of water for a bit and it boiled over and ruined a science experiment that I was really excited to do.In the USA, we say, " A watched pot doesn't boil," meaning if you just stand there and wait, it will seem like forever until the water boils.
