Sounds like the getting a case of Milwaukee's beast for like $2.99 at the Navy Exchange. It'd be a few days before pay day, and we'd go dorm to dorm looking in couch cushions etc trying to scrape up the cash for the beer.

During Gulf War 1 I recall gas’s finally came down to about $1.45 in Jax, FL when I was getting out….

Back then 'take out' coffee was nonexistent, but I remember when I could buy coffee for 37 cents a cup.

Most people made it at home and took it with them in a thermos. or the office had a pot or whatever. There was always IHOP too.
