Things you wish you could say

Turn your own gas back on, it sounds like the 'communications circuit' is about as organized as the bottom of your chicken coop already.... turn the gas on and get hot water.

Wow am I glad I don't live in a place like that, geez, that's just ignorance there.

If you don't have the 'tool' to turn on utilities, a crescent wrench will work just as well. Just turn the valve on slowly to let all the pipes pressurize without slamming them. Turn it on, then go inside and sniff around for a few minutes in EACH ROOM that has gas to it, to make sure there are not any leaks, or stuck pilot valves.

There should not be any.

Once that is affirmed, relight the pilots, if you need help on how to do that, say something here and someone will post, otherwise not wasting the bandwidth to say how if you already know.

once water is hot, take a shower already, you stinky cold water bum !! :P :D

Id rather be red from a hot bath then blue from freezing !

Not really disagreeing, but if somthing was "off" there would be no recourse and all claims denied.

Agreed. I managed to convince the power company that it's urgent since I haven't had hot water in so long and I'm ready to kill for a hot shower. The guy I talked to on the phone understood, and someone will be here today. I may tell my coworkers "I'm logging off because... SHOWER!!!!!"

Im not going to go off on you, or comment much on what *I* would do / say if they even thought of turning MY utilities off for a week or 4 but with that said.

If you did not have service, then you do not need to pay for it. You need to call them on the phone and tell them to take those days, preferably the entire MONTH. off you bill for the time it was not available.

They can not charge you for a service they were not providing.

Wait until AFTER they get you hooked back up and running of course :P but yes, definitely get your money back for days lost!

Do you pay a flat rate or something for gas where you live?
Around here you just pay for what you use so if it was off you wouldn't of used any on those days so they wouldn't be charging you anything.
I pay for what I use, so I'm not paying for what I didn't use. They just turned the water heater back on about 10 minutes ago. Hot shower in about half an hour!

Yes you pay for what you use but you also pay a monthly fee for the privilege for having it there to begin with. When the service is not available. you do not have to pay for those days.

Do what you want though it's your money.

*whimper* I want a hot shower.

The plumber has been and gone, and the power company needs to turn the gas back on. They're swamped, so it's going to be a couple more days at least. What the heck. I've been without hot water for 3 weeks. What's a couple more days?
PM sent!
