People make me sad with their stubborn refusal to think logically.People make me sad with their stubborn refusal to think logically when presented with facts that disprove their opinions because of the poison pill of internet idiocy.
The prevalence of deliberately or accidentally false and misleading info on the internet is why I worded it the way I did. Too many humans blindly assume that the internet is a legit source of fact and truth, and their attention spans have been trained to inhale 15 second sound bytes and move on. It's really more a source of junk mail, snake oil, and telemarketing calls than it is any bastion of sanity and truth.People make me sad with their stubborn refusal to think logically.
Fixed it for you!
People make me sad when they can't/won't/don't provide facts. I don't care what someone said. What can you prove?
People make me sad when they say the internet is a good resource. It is a resource, yes. Do your own fact checking. After all, the world is flat according to some on the internet. I'll let you google to prove or disprove that. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a rumor.
And remember, you are reading this on the internet. Caveat emptor.

When folks had print media and the library as their main sources of fact (take that with a grain of salt as well), we had a lot less stupid bandied about in public. I'm not saying there was any less stupid, mind you, just less places for it to leak out into the open and get passed around by people who otherwise would call shenanigans on it if they spent a minimal amount of effort to apply basic BS filtering.
P.T. Barnum would have abslutely LOVED the internet were he alive to see it flourish the way it has.

Ah, but intelligent conversation with facts. Followed by scientific experimentation and comparison of results. Sounds wonderful. The problem is, if we can't agree on what we consider to be a reliable source of information, there's no way we can agree.
