Things you wish you could say

Do they play on the internet all day?
No, just didn't feel those were necessary skills,I guess. Poor kid had got thrown in the deep end. I'm not for coddling kids but letting them reach adulthood without those skills is sheer laziness
The young adults I've known that did not drive did not play on the computer. They just didn't drive.
Could they walk to all places of interest?
 
Cooking is a vital skill. Parents should teach kids to cook, clean and shop.

Cooking does not consist of opening a can/box/package and microwaving contents nor obtaining food from a restaurant, but from scratch. You don't have to mill your flour, but you should know how to handle larger cuts of meat if you don't hunt/harvest/grow your own.
 
"I want my kids to grow in the real world."

Let's them quit at the least inconvenience.
Let's them drop out if they don't win or don't like their teammates.
Doesn't teach negative consequences for negative actions.
Doesn't teach them to work harder/practice more for the goals they want.
Doesn't teach them that just because there are those that are better/ahead of them, it doesn't mean they're cheating.
Doesn't teach money management or budgeting.
Dating is not for entertainment, it's to find a spouse.
Doesn't teach them life isn't fair.
Doesn't teach responsibility of anything.
