Things you wish you could say

I know this has been mentioned quite a few time, so I’m not alone in saying this but..why why??? Would you purchase straight run chicks if you are not prepared to have a rooster(s), or have the ability to get rid of roosters if you get some?? It’s very unlikely that luck will be on your side and you’ll get all females (I’ve actually managed it once, but on the other hand I have also payed for sexed ducklings and the lady did it in store and I still got a drake.)

it’s not much of a problem on here because anyone who’s here has clearly taken the needs of their their birds into consideration...so this is for the other people out there who buy them on a whim..chicks are adorable!! But they will stay looking exactly that cute and tiny for A WEEK tops. They grow quickly, and soon you will have full grown birds. Chickens are NOT an animal you should buy on a whim without considering the care that they need. They have specific needs and aren’t like a goldfish or something that you can pick up from the pet store and bring home. Do your research!! It’s not fair to the birds if you don’t! They ultimately rely on you to keep them alive as chicks, so trial and error, or just winging it (don’t mind my pun lol) shouldn’t be an option.
okay I’m good now...I let off some steam and the zen has returned lol. Thanks for letting me rant

The only time I don't agree is when the breed only comes in st.run. Then you don't have a choice if you want that breed

I agree fully with you. Though goldfish shouldn’t be bought on a whim either, as they actually require a large tank or pond (40+ gallons) plus water changes to thrive.
