Things you wish you could say

I see a lot of recipes online that basically mix vodka or everclear with root beer extract, I assume this is not the real way? When I read this I imagined a bunch of beakers and tubes in a shed, but it seems like people put this all in crock pots now.
Pinterest has lots of flavored moonshine recipes made from Everclear. Different states have restrictions on its proof and sale. But you can set up a still and make your own from scratch for your own use---cannot sell it without permits

you can make for personal consumption but can't sell it. My moonshine is made from Everclear--already distilled and sold in liquor stores
Check the laws again. You can legally make wine. You cannot legally distill alcohol without a Federal permit in the U.S.

Making a mixed drink is a different thing than distilling alcohol. To me, it is not moonshine unless you distill it.

In the U.S. you cannot legally distill alcohol without a Federal permit. More than a few states still prohibit the ownership of a still even though there are legal uses for a still such as making distilled water and essential oils.
