Things you wish you could say

Another disappointing thing about certain brands of chips is the flavor. I bought a bbq Safeway brand chips... they tasted like dirt. I really would like to question the tasters if they really tasted the flavoring.

Generics almost always are going to taste like crap. Generic - cheap.
Some say they are rejects from the processing line of normal chips etc, but consider this.

I am selling you a product for 4 dollars a bag.
WHY would I give the SAME product to someone else to sell to you for 2 dollars a bag? The big companies may make the chips for the generic's but they are NOT going to put the same quality, ingredients, or care really.. into them, they are not going to help their competition. If they do put similar quality into that bag they most certainly are NOT going to sell it for a huge discount, that'd be slitting their own throats.

Free enterprise explained. If quality is a priority you pay more. If not, you may be able to pay less. Your choice.
Agreed. I choose quality.. I eat 100% organic and Kosher. The Safeway chips were organic... but even paying top dollar for "quality" doesn't mean it's guaranteed to taste good, lol.

Yes. Experience shows that price is not the best judge of quality. I've found some items where the cut rate brand was much better than the high end item. :idunno

Just a story. When DD was 1 or 2yo she found a bag of ZAPP's potato chips ( a local, Very spicy brand) a friend was bringing home on a flight. The friend called to report that DD had removed each chip, licked the seasoning from them then replaced them in the bag. :lau She is still a fein for hot, spicy food.
I LOVE Zapp’s!

Organic - Contains Carbon. That is the scientific definition of Organic. Anything else YOU want to attach to it is on YOU, and WE are NOT liable for YOUR beliefs. That is what their lawyers will cling to.

See the problem is, everyone, every industry wants to put their special spin on that word, because it lets them sell THEIR product for mo munny!! Which at the end of the day is what the game is about... period. Lets change the definition to mean this for these people, that for that group, etc. Soon, nobody really knows what it really means or was meant to mean or if it means what they say it means in the way they meant it to sound, not meaning to be mean, if you know what I mean.

I could squeeze a stanley steamer into a bag, if the food I ate was organic, and I didn't eat any chemicals to chase it thru with, well guess what, you got ORGANIC, it passed right thru my Organs, right to your plate !! Prove it wrong.... We might be able to argue what the product is called but it's still... organic...

Quality, that's another word people have problems with. WHAT exactly does that mean? Ask 20 different people and you are going to get a lot of different answers, but I guaranTEE you, the people who sold you that bag of dirt chips, will insist they were TOP quality !!

Oh, and that's not DIRT you tasted, that's au NATURAL, EARTH FLAVORS...you Heathen !!

:D

At the end of the day, I think the recipe's and preparration is what people really are looking for.

I mean heck, potato salad.
Some is made with mustard,
Some is more tart, and whiter.
BOTH are Tater Salad.

Which one is better?
Both are made with the same 'High Quality'

At the end of the day, which one tastes better to YOU is going to be the deciding factor.

I like Bleu Cheese Dressing on my Salads, along with Ranch. One of the best I had ever tasted was a generic by one of the local stores. Cost a buck 50 less than the Kraft or other High End stuff too!! So branding, labels, .. do not guarantee YOU think it's best.

I am no longer on the West coast, so it's not available anymore... oh well..

Ok, I'm with you on most of this...
Except USDA certified products (and yes, there is still a great deal of room in their guidelines for smoke in mirrors) but they do lay out specific qualifications that producers must follow to get the seal.
https://www.usda.gov/media/blog/2012/03/22/organic-101-what-usda-organic-label-means
I do think its pretty funny however that a producer can obtain a "made with organic ingredients" seal if only 70% of the product is actually organic by USDA standards.
Not saying its not a sham, but at least they do have definite guidelines and requirements before certification.

Edit: Forgot to include most relevant fact: all BBQ chips taste like dirt
