If this is a standard keyboard with nothing fancy, throw it in the sink, rinse it out really well, maybe use a scrub brush to really get the crumbs and dust out then let it dry completely (up to three days to really dry). I've even known tech to throw them in the dishwasher.
This is a common problem with a certain keyboard. It is due to a build up of static electricity inside the case. Just opening up the case can temporarily disperse the static electricity. Others have found that a good jolt onto the desk can also dissipate the static electricity but one must be careful because that is also a way to really break the keyboard.
RIP. Bless your poor keyboards soul.
Thank you! It was actually the keyboard on my laptop, so the sink probably wasn't an option. I'm a germaphobe so I tend to clean electronics a lot with wet wipes. Usually it was fine, but I guess this time I managed to get moisture inside. At least the computer is fine, lol.
AND I just received my new plug-in keyboard which is really cool and lit up in rainbow colors right now. Feels exceptionally nice to type on. Yipee!
