Things you wish you could say

I am sorry. Sounds like my early days with chickens. Felt like Everitt could go wrong did go wrong. All at once.
This too shall pass, and you will be stronger and more knowledgeable as a result.
Good luck.

Thank you, it helped a lot just to get it off my chest and, you know, cry a bit.
I love my ducks so much. I never thought I could love them this much. They are so precious ❤️
And you're exactly right, I learned so much since I decided to get ducks. From the basics to the fascinating stuff about how breathing in the egg works. Watching them hatch was magical. I would do it all again. I just hate the feeling that my incompetence causes them suffering. But that's not how they see it, they just like it when I bring them watermelon :D

"My kids are disappointed/will be devastated"
You inability to not teach your kids that life isn't fair or get your kids deeply involved in something  you didn't even know what to do, is your problem.
Trotting your kids out as a defense mechanism to 'negative' feedback is exploitative and immature. Grow up.

This makes me think how much I hate it when people hide behind their kids. I think it's incredibly cowardly.

I have seen kids used to tell people things that their parents think the person may not want to hear figuring that people won't say mean things to the kids.

I have seen beggars get their kids to walk up to cars to beg for money.

I have seen religious groups send their kids to people's doorsteps to preach while they stand on the sidewalk watching.
