Things you wish you could say

You can coat them yourself. Permethrin is sold almost anywhere, in the camping or bug removal sections. Walmart, TSC, Rural King... I coat any clothes we take hiking or camping, or to our land in WV. Just spray them outside and let dry. Spray shoes too. It lasts six weeks or through six washings. Stuff really works
Oh, and we found a permethrin that is safe to use on dogs. It was on clearance at TSC. Bought that for our dog

Yes. I do that. This service claims that it will last a lot longer. Just like those items you can buy that are already coated.
Claim is 70 washes. Doing it yourself is 6 washes.
I am thinking just a core set of gardening clothes and then I will continue to do it myself for anything else.

I did not remove multiple ticks from the back of my neck.

Is there a sign saying 'eat here'?
I wish I could say the same.
I just learned there is a service where you can send in your clothes and they will coat them in permethrin. I am looking into that for the clothes I wear to do yard work. I was just covered in the nasty things a couple of days ago.
Why are there so many ticks?

We have ticks here from walking in the bushland, my dog got bitten by a tick and was hospitalized for 3 days. This tick was from my overgrown backyard vegetation.
We cleared out all the overgrown vegetation since our dog was bitten.

I got a leach suck blood on my leg while bush walking.
Blue bottle jellyfish stings from walking on the beach..in the water.

Sour and I probably have the same type of ticks. They carry Lyme disease (which I have had multiple times). They come from deer mice and are everywhere in my part of NJ. They even drop down on you from trees.
I think this winter wasn’t cold enough for long enough so it didn’t reduce the numbers enough.
The chickens eat them, but until later in the year they are very tiny and can escape their attention.
Nasty little things.

Yesterday I had a deer tick feasting on my abdomen. Here when things warm up they generally go dormant and the dog/wood ticks become more prevalent. They 'only' cause babesiosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Erlichiosis or a multitude of other diseases. I have had Lyme disease and probably had Babesosis. It's the price for playing in the great outdoors.

I am not sure I have ever seen a dog/wood tick (don't have a dog). All the ones I get are deer ticks.

They are nasty little things for absolutely and such a pain they can drop down from trees.

Lyme disease is very serious, but in Australia, the government does not recognise this.

What is Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria borrelia burgdorferi. It’s transmitted (spread) to humans through a tick bite. There is no evidence that Lyme disease can be spread from person-to-person.

Lyme disease is found in parts of the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Asia. Lyme disease has been diagnosed in Australia in overseas travellers.

Scientists have not found the bacteria that carry Lyme disease in Australian ticks. You are not likely to catch Lyme disease in Australia.

This is very difficult for people living with Lyme disease in Australia.

We have ticks in Ohio, of course. And had a very cold winter, I was hoping it would have killed most of them off but they've been around a lot, too
Here too. Winter was the coldest we've had in a while and this spring seems to be the worst for ticks we've had in forever.
I haven't had a tick latched on in as long as I can remember. Found one today. That's 4 this year.

Y'all are giving me the shivers and shudders. I HATE ticks. I've become a much better cook since moving to MO simply because I just about never go outside! When I do, I wear knee-high boots and take them off as soon as I come in. Creepiest of creepy crawlies. Snakes bother me not at all, but ticks? Eeeyugh! And that's putting it mildly!
