Huh. Today I learned. I didn't know there were lines with only one set of track unless they were private (like a coal line or something)I know KC has several but I can't think of any town anywheres close that is more then a one track town.
Neat.

I've lived close to tracks a few times. Always one set.Huh. Today I learned. I didn't know there were lines with only one set of track unless they were private (like a coal line or something)

Looking at a rail plan doc the Missouri DOT has online, there's a lot of single track down your way. KC and St. Louis have more dual line of course, but most of the rest of the state is all single track. Now I really can't recall a train going but the one direction. I am freaking out. There's a train station about a mile away from me. That's where they switch off so they can go different directions. I'm pretty sure that's also why the train will sit for so long. It's probably waiting for another train to clear the way so it can go.I've lived close to tracks a few times. Always one set.
I know where tracks run through many towns around here. Only one set.
I still can't remember where there's been two. Now I'm very curious. How do we get things going two directions? Is there just that few trains running or nothing goes away from KC to my side of the world? Things seem really odd now.
we talking passenger train or freight? There's a train station about a mile away from me. That's where they switch off so they can go different directions. I'm pretty sure that's also why the train will sit for so long. It's probably waiting for another train to clear the way so it can go.
