Things you wish you could say

You're not punishing them, you're protecting them. Same as you would if any predator was in the area. That's your job. These kids may not actively harm your chickens but they are definitely stressing them. Perhaps teach the children that they can watch the chickens if they sit quietly in little chairs that you provide, and point out interesting things about the chickens. Maybe teach them their names and see if they can learn to identify them, unless the chickens all look the same. Best wishes!
And maybe tell their mom and dad not to bring them back if they can’t respect you or your animals? That is something you definitely wish you could say. 😵‍💫

I’d have to start by teaching my husband their names, he calls them “The blondes, the black one and the white one” ☹️
He doesn't need to know them. He can learn along with the kidlets. Put colored bands in the blondes. Your little one can learn her colors. There's Greenie! And Bluey! Red, Orange, Yellow ... how many chickens do you have? Band them at night while they're roosting.

Four chickens. Even the two BO look nothing alike, one’s a poster child for overweight poultry, hubby’s just too busy to learn names (those two are 4 years old 🙄)

At least he says their colors. My husband identifies mine by, "that one over there, the idiot, the mean one..."
