Reddit is bad. Site with lots of different stuff on it, usually not very family friendly language. I mostly use it when it's in the search results for tech stuff I research.

I have a different experience with Reddit. I don’t have an account or anything but they have a lot of quite specialized threads that are very informative.
I assume they are heavily moderated because they never seem to go off the rails.
I have learned a lot of ‘how to’ things from Reddit on things like furniture restoration, carpentry, and stuff like that.

When it comes to chicken stuff, BYC > Reddit > Facebook.

Also, I am that idiot. I'm BYC's version of a Redditor. I'll never forget suggesting to someone that their chicken was having a crisis in the mirror (in all seriousness), when the real problem was a vitamin deficiency or something like that. I like to think I've gotten better, but who knows.

It's useful for lots, but quite a few subs that I've used tend to be toxic if you don't follow the herd and whatnot.
