What I am glad I can say is I haven't been freeranging lately. A few days ago I saw a hawk land in my backyard and today one of the neighbor's dogs got loose

Thankfully the girls were safely in their run so everyone is fine, but it could have been a different story had they have been freeranging

Why on earth did you bite me?

I was leaning over collecting eggs, then my friendliest hen bit the back of my leg! This hen always runs up to me, she lets me pick her up and carry her around.

Lately she's been giving me the side eye as if she thinks I have something that she wants. She pecked at my shoe the other day, and then she outright bit me today! She even drew blood, though not much. She still wanted me to pet her and pick her up afterwards.

Sounds like my cats, they bite me if I'm not petting them enough. Very gently but still

One of the stray cats I feed though will grab my leg. I still have the scratch marks from when he did that last week

Sounds like she bit you BECAUSE she wanted you to pick her up and pet her.

Yep, that's exactly it. Many cats will bite if they want you to stop. My cats are just weird xD
