Things you wish you could say

Bomgaar's didn't discontinue the metal pails we use for cleaning the ashes out of the wood stove because I need two and they only had one. So I bought it and a milk pail! Also I wish I knew what happened two my old pails! They were getting a llittle beat up and holey but they were still serviceable.

That I didn’t just knock myself senseless when a steel bar thwacked me on my head.
It is the kind of injury that in cartoons would show as an impressive egg on the top of my head - probably it won’t look that impressive.
I think I bit my lip as a result and boy does my head ache. And my neck.
I was out in the woods about a quarter mile from the house. Probably a bit less.
Back home now. Gonna have a nap to recover.

I didn't think you were supposed to nap when you've hit your head?
Hope it's not too bad.

I wouldn't take a nap, that's not a good idea after a head injury. Hope you get better soon! I got whacked by a huge 2x4 years ago and literally saw stars. I had quite a concussion, hope you don't have one!

My understanding is that napping is not itself a problem.
The main problem is if you slip into a coma and no-one notices.
If you are awake, it's obvious that you are not in a coma. If you are asleep, it's not so obvious.

So if there is a responsible person available, it's fine for the person with a head injury to sleep. The responsible person can check at intervals, and wake up the injured person if there's any doubt. If they can wake up, they are still fine. If they cannot wake up, it's time for that responsible person to call the hospital or take other appropriate action.

If there is no responsible person available (injured person is alone), then it is probably better to just go to the hospital or emergency room. If they reach the point of needing help, regardless of whether they tried to stay awake or not, they may not be able to get that help. (Symptoms of problems can include confusion and blurred vision, along with coma, and any of those would make it hard to recognize a need for help, and hard to get that help. This is not a complete list of symptoms, just a few to illustrate the point.)

Either way, I don't think that trying to stay awake will help much.

Of course there's the other important detail, that a person can't be napping and going to the doctor at the same time. So if it is important to get medical attention, that should happen first.
