Lift the top off the tank and make sure the valve is closing. Sometimes the chain gets caught, tangled or disconnected and needs to be adjusted. It's an easy fix - and the water in the tank is pre-flush, so it's clean. What does it mean if it makes the ‘refilling’ noise all by itself?![]()
In a dorm, you call maintenance. That's their problem.Thank you all! That appears to be the problem. When I pressed on the seal, the trickle stopped.
I’m not sure about replacing it since this is a dorm room and I don’t want to mess things up by accident. How do you stop the water while you’re replacing it??
For now I’ve left the lid off so I can adjust it manually.

The water supply line feeding the toilet tank should be coming from a valve. Turn the valve handle clockwise to turn it off.How do you stop the water while you’re replacing it??
Everything here gets ruined with the hard water. Here, the hard water makes them get brittle and stop sealing, so I have to replace them every couple years. Odds are that if your toilets were all installed at the same time, they're all going to fail around the same time.
