Barefoot? Are you kidding me, my sister is barefoot 24/7 :lau
Hey as long as it is clean and dry I would be willing to do barefoot in the coop. I would certainly drag my feet through the wet grass once done and then hose em down. Who hasn't stepped in dog poo in there life anyway? The only ill effects I've ever experienced from that is mild nausea and maybe a bit of psychological distress. Barefoot would only be ikky if you make it ikky!

edit-spelling error.

Follow on post have you really never had your birds $#@% on you yet? I get nervous every time they walk over my feet since I'm usually wearing flip-flops. Especially when they decide that is exactly where they want to graze the grass and loiter!

I don't know how wart remover actually works. Warts are viral aren't they? Bumblefoot is bacterial. Anything that destroys tissue must be used with caution. Like hydrogen peroxide is a great initial sanitizer/cleanser for wounds, but it should't be used after that initial application as it can destroy new healthy tissue.

No, only if both feet get cut and infected. It's not a systemic infection, it's an infected wound. The bacteria enters the open wound. Tho any infected wound can go systemic, infecting the entire body, then systemic/oral/injectable antibiotics are needed to treat the entire body.

;)
Ok I give up chicken aren't mammals I've never seen bumbles(or proper medical terminology "This sh@#") like this doing trauma/ICU in a human body! I concede defeat aart! http://www.kittycooks.com/uploads/3/3/4/7/3347217/4760700_orig.jpg

Got that from this article looks easy enough to treat but they used invasive methods:http://www.kittycooks.com/bumblefoot-in-chickens.html

sorry, I am 58+ years old, not dog or bird years,

LOL, not in a chicken coop of mine!
Hehe no mater what I would never drink outta their waterbowl even after a fresh hosing down. I have washed away way to many things from it to be comfortable with that. But I'll stand by my barefoot statement it wouldn't gross me out. Eating in there noway to that too! Chicken are just too nasty with their bathroom habits.

No -- BAREFOOT ever in any chicken coop I have ever seen!

I had a mixed bantam hen, and she would leave for days and show up randomly to eat. Turns out she had a nest of eggs she had laid in the woods, it was a miracle that no predator got her! None of her eggs hatched though, no rooster :p
That would be better than Orpington x Sultan. Not as big as an Orpington, not as cute as a Sultan! The hens were pretty OK layers, but 75% roosters that time!

Pretty funny! Bird Poop, not the issue. Stepping on something in the run and puncturing my foot, that is the problem. A puncture wound, in the neighborhood of any bird poop, HUGE Problem. I deal with bird poop every day, since 1976, when I got my first parrot!
