Think I got a fake paypal email...........what do I do?

Got an email today that appears to be a Paypal email saying my account has been flagged and that I should go to this link and verify all my info. I dont think this is the real deal, so I didnt go to the link.

Anyone know where/who I should send this info to inform Paypal?

Hi, I am pretty sure you send it to [email protected] or similar. Definitely don't click the link. You can log in directly to your ppal and check it out for the link to email them. You have to include the entire email.

Hi, just checked. Go to ppal and in the upper right it says SECURITY CENTER. On the left it says REPORT A PROBLEM. Click the link that says:
Alert us to a spoof/fraud email

Right, for sure don't click anything on it. You can send it to Paypal, like snoodles said. They say they will check into it.
The main thing is, don't click on anypart of it and just delete it.

Go to Paypal.com, log in and then click "Security Center" (at the very bottom of the page where all the small links are). On the left of that page you'll see a box that says "Report a Problem." In it is a link that says, "Alert us to a spoof/fraud email." It will take you to a form that you fill out.

I've done this before, and what I did was to copy and paste the email on to the form, after telling them why I thought it was a fraud. Never heard back from them, but I guess they got it taken care of.

I used to have a paypal account and I think I used it once (about 3 or 4 years ago). When it came time to renew, I didn't. Then, later, I got an email like yours. In fact, I've gotten two. I also thought it was fishy, especially since I hadn't renewed my account so I just deleted them. I didn't go to paypal though. Just figured, if I didn't open the link, and deleted the email, they'd just go away. It's a scam for sure!!

Definitely do not click the link. When paypal emails about something regarding your account, they say 'visit paypal.com to...' rather than putting a link, usually.

Like eggcetra said, report it to the spoof center. Paypal is the worst for people trying to get you. Because not only does it have credit card information, but a lot of accounts are set up to draw money straight from your bank account.

I have had paypal for many years. I only once had a problem and it was my fault. I received an email like yours and unwittingly clicked on it. I did nothing else because upon opening it I realized what it was. My account WAS messed with. Paypal researched the problem and credited my account within 24 hours. Just remember always go directly to the paypal site to access messages from paypal there. Then you should be fine.

Basically, when you get any email from some account you are registered at, especially ones tied to your credit or money, DO NOT click on the links. Some are very witty and will direct you to the real login failure page on the real page!

What to do is go to your respective site directly on a second browser, and log in there. If nothing is wrong, mail was a spoof.
