Think I may have a few non-meatbirds.

I have 38 meaties going. They were bought in 3 batches from 2 different tractor supplies.
Here's the thing. There are about 8(about the size of my third buy) that are not growing anywhere near the rate of the others. When and how can I tell if these are meaties?

It will become clearer soon. Do you have pictures? I got three "Cornish X's" from TSC to add to my 16 Cornish from McMurray. All three turned out to be Leghorns, and the two survivors are both roosters

They are just 2 weeks old and there is already a significant difference. Not much to see with a photo other than the size discrepancy.

I couldn't tell a difference between the chicks in the first week. By the second week, the Cornish had much thicker legs.

You could just have some slower growing Cornish's.

Thanks for the response. There are 7 now that are half the size of the others. Guess I'll wait a week or 2 and get a better perspective. The thing that kills me is that I'm throwing organic feed at them. If they are not meaties, I've wasted a lot of food since I'll have to sell them as I have noore room for egg layers

Remember...they're all made out of meat. They may not grow to be big, beautiful roasters, but boil em up and make some dumplings. They won't be a waste.
