Thinking about moving...

Southern Illinois is very nice too; although you actually get a winter there . . .I love Kentucky and Tenn., Georgia is gorgeous, and I guess parts of Florida is too, what I have seen is just beach area . . .my plan was to move back to dh's birth state of Ga., and open a tea room in one of the old homes . . .but then something called life intervened and I have bloomed here in Illinois where I was born!!! Good luck with your venture!!!!

Like some others, I would vote for Kentucky or Tennessee too. My son is finally (he and his fiance had been planning for a while) living in Johnson City, TN. Beautiful area and I have been sorely tempted.

I'm in the same boat. I live 25 minutes west of flint mi and I hate the winters. This past winter we had record snowfall, record temps below zero and to top it off, Michigan has been in a recession for almost 6 years now and the country has finally started to feel what we've been wallowing in since JennyG took the governorship.

I'm a misplaced Texan, living 99% of my life up here in michigan. Everytime I go down south to visit my ma and family I have a hard time getting the van pointed back north again. I always take the long route back and go back through Kansas, Missouri or Arkansas whenever or however I can. Something just draws me to the wide open spaces of the southwest.

Someday I want to have a small cattle ranch. Something at least 4-500 acres of pasture, and a large flock of free ranging birds to go along with the longhorns

Whats s bad about TN? When I was in California it didnt seem to great.

I will have to look into tennessee. My goal overall is to move south so I dont have to deal with changing frozen waterers every half hour and have to shovel a tunnel to get to the birds. I want a minimum of 10 acres, the more the better. I want to mess with poultry genetics and make new colors, make a landrace of my own liking. I want to have exotics that wont suffer in the cold. Maybe have a small dairy or something. I want to have lots and lots of fish too, they are very interesting.
East Texas seems cool.
