I can definitely testify to the varmint hunting capabilities. They bark when they see, hear, or think they see or hear a varmint. For short legged little things they have some serious stamina when it comes to chasing something down. The one I have has no fear at all. Snake, coon, rat, blowing mulberry leaf, he's on it. Which is where the bonus for this breed comes in: extremely high entertainment value. Nothing like watching this dippy dog try to bite and attack rain when he gets drops on his rump

well, i have always had shelties, have 3 right now, they are GREAT dogs if socilaized right, my kids dress them up, pull them around.. ETC.

i have always wanted a 'small' dog, like a min pin or a lhasa, but, a small dog doesnt go well with mini horses and goats.. lol

other dogs we have are
a lab,
a Doberman
and a st. bernard mix (Farm gaurd dog!)

How about a Beagle? 13-inch class ones that is. They get to 15-20 lbs and are very athletic.

Huckleberry is 9 months old and he can fetch like he's been doing it for years. I am going to be setting up an agility course in my backyard since he loves to jump in the air to get his toy and over things like the logs that are down in the back. I even trained him to herd the chickens back in to their pen at night. He loves the girls and lets them eat his kibble.

I show both conformation and agility. Dabbled in Rally a little. My papillons are fantastic in the agility ring. They are by far the smart ones of the smaller breeds I have had. I also have Chinese Crested Powderpuffs. I only have the coated version. They are super sweet and lovable, great family dogs, but not as blessed in the brain dept as the papillons here. Although I have had a CCPP I bred and sold to a family go on to get numerous titles in obedience. Maybe I sold the smart one!

I have a blue heeler rescue dog, smart and athletic, but very, very intense. Would not recommend that breed for young children, but then again, this is the only heeler I have had.

Also have a Canaan. She is a medium size. She blows everyone away at agility, extremely smart and athletic. Super loving dog, well behaved, but high energy when given the chance. Got her at a horse auction for $6. She was 2, and had her papers, just had her shots, and was spayed. I show her under the name of "6 Dollar Dog".

There are a lot of corgis where I train agility (maybe because its in a horse barn!). They do rather well. I see some mini Aussies too, very cute. There are a couple maltese as well.
