~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

That auction is over- I didn't answer in time, sorry!! I'll relist right away, but pm me if you want a batch sooner than Weds.

So my hens behavior is confusing me a little. Yesterday she was in the nest when I got home at 3pm. When it was time to lock them up, she was still there. I looked for an egg and she easily stood up and let me collect it. She then slept in the nest all night, for the 1st time ever. But she stayed out all day today in the pen like normal until about 6pm, when she went into the nest. I checked on her at 9pm and she was still there, so I again reached to check for an egg and she has not laid one, but seems to intend on sleeping in the nest again.
Last night I thought she was going broody, but like I said, she stayed out all day today. Idk y she would suddenly decide to just sleep in the nest at night. Any ideas?

Manning - why would she sit nine days long? Isn't tomorrow set day? I'm confused.........but that is not unusual.

Okay, we got distracted by all the goat, sheep, and bunny cuteness, but back to my poult. I have one vote for BR. PLEASE cast your vote for what breed you think this little cutie is.

Last night I put two freshly hatched and dried chicks in with the poult for company. It perked up immensely and now is ruling the roost, so to speak.
I usually need to see the back Wisher. THe color is a strange pinkish. Have you looked at porters pages of poults. ( Say the 5 x fast!! lol)

Hi everyone. Just loaded up my incubator with turkey eggs. 3 oregon gray and 3 sweetgrass, and 18 mixed turkey eggs that the breeder was going to feed to her dogs....she said they are about a week old and so I got those for FREE!!!! Hope they hatch! This will be my first time hatching/having turkeys so I'm real excited. I plan on adding a few chicken eggs to the incubator soon to hatch out a few " turkey tutors".
Congrats on the freebees!! I'm setting a lot of mixed too-- they grow a bit faster and the colors are pretty.

Agreed- also look at her feet to see if she has any issues with getting off of the roost- sometimes bumblefoot will make them not want to jump down.

Maybe check for signs of worms, as well.

The dog found a new home because she has tried to break into the outside pen before killing the babies. She had also destroyed a lot of our stuff.
