I am a little excited about this....I am IN...though I will need a broody to be in as well I have 7 days to encourage all kinds of maternal feelings in my brown egg layer pen. @ChooksChick my Chocolate Rock beauty has made broody motions but she is overly fond of calories and can't resist getting up when the treats come out. I also have a proven mama in one of my Australorps and a Speckled Sussex in that pen

that one of them...or someone else gets the notion to set on eggs! I have Delawares that need hatching!

So I set 21 turkey eggs as of now for this hatch. I am also going to put whatever the hens give me today in as well (3 or 4). I already checked fertility so I am good there now to wait the 9 or 10 days till my first candling

. Hoping everyone has great hatches!

I got 14 turkey and 22 duck eggs set. Shocked I had that many duck eggs. I only have 2 females and I collected for 8 days. They were busy!

Everyone else get there eggs set? This is my first year doing this hatch-athon and eager to see how many are set.

Well. Looks like my turkey isn't sick or injured. She's broody I think! Been on the nest all night and all morning! I went and checked on her and she hasn't laid any eggs, just hangin out.

Only thing that makes me wonder is. She seems ok with me reaching in and touching her and her fake eggs. Ive never had a broody anything, and only really read about chicken hens. Is this normal or do they get all crabby and territorial like a chicken usually does when brooding? If I reach under her she just stands up some so I can get to the eggs.
Mine will tear my hand off.

Yeah I was thinking even if she didn't squish the eggs, I'm afraid she may squish the little bantam chicks. Probably just give her Buffs, and wait for my Silkies to hatch out their own eggs. Or for my bator to get some room for them. Lol
I guess I don't understand why she would squish them, my turkey chicks aren't any bigger than my standard chicks are.

Im still trying to figure out how im going to set 20 turkey eggs 6-8 duck eggs and 16-20 chickens eggs tonight when I have one incubator full and another incubator that's gonna be full and on lockdown

My eyes are bigger than my incubators.

Maybe I will take out my auto tuner to make more space and then stack?

DH wont let me get another bator, and we are at a complete stand still with the cooler bator. *sigh*

I have this same problem, I am now considering a staggered hatch under broodies lol

Hahaha Cute post. Will wish on a star for you.

I have that problem too!  I have 6 Brinsea Advances, I lay 9 eggs on side, hand turn for 5 days, candle--always get down to 7, then start auto turner.  I've been hatching for over 6 weeks with about 4 more hatches due, not sure,:D getting kinda sick of it LOL  sort of!

Lmao, I do the same! I pack my brinsea mini advanced, hand turn the first few days, always get down to 7 eggs, then I turn on the auto turner.
