~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

I woke up this morning to 3 Black Spanish poults and a fourth has hatched in the last hour or so. I set these eggs at the same time as Bourbon Red and Royal Palms and all are due tomorrow. The first pip on the Black Spanish was the morning of day 25 (set around noon). By the evening of day 25, I had 3 pips and the fourth pipped overnight. They started hatching last evening (day 26).

If they were all popping so early I'd think the temp in my incubator is a little high but none of the tutor, BR or RP eggs pipped until overnight last night, placing them "on schedule" to start hatching tonight or on their due date.

These are my first Black Spanish. I purchased the eggs from a local guy who raises them, thinking to add a new breed this year and of the 6 eggs I got from him, 2 were clear and the remaining 4 all hatched early. I've never heard of one breed hatching earlier than others but….at this point I don't know what to think.

I'm on day 4 of the new hatch and trying to watch my fertility, growth, and hatchabilty in my eggs very carefully. Right now I'm pretty focused on the fertility in particular, but also noting everything else to study the results. Looks like so far with all questionables counted as clears on paper that my fertility rate is about 82% for this roo and his ratio.
But my question is, what is an "acceptable" % for selling hatching eggs? I know you cant guarantee a hatch or fertility but what would you say is acceptable in your opinion to sell them fairly?

I think that you just adjust your prices accordingly.

Last year when I bought eggs from a lady who knew she was getting only 2/3 percent fertility, which she rightly considered pretty low fertility, she gave me extra eggs, so I payed for 2/3 of the eggs she gave me. She was right too, the eggs I got were right at 2/3 fertile.

MARSHIE HAS 8 DAYS LEFT ON HER EGGS!!!! IM SO EXCITED!
