~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

got a new tom turkey today to keep Petuna (sweetgrass hen) You see I don't plan on eating her. He is a mutt but I don't think she cares.

He is bourbon red/slate blue cross I think she said.

I have some of that cross incubating now. I have done dome research and the cross between Bourbon Red and Slate will give you two out comes. Rusty Black or Rusty Slate. Looks like your boy is a Rusty Slate and very pretty at that.

I took this video of one of my 17 day old duck eggs tonight and the baby is kicking the while time.

Maybe someone else can embed it for me.

AWE MAN! THIS IS SUCH A COOL VIDEO!!!! my chicken eggs are on day 17 today, going on 18 at 6 o'clock. I cant see a darn thing in those eggs, the babies are so big!

Ahhh those girls . . . . . they can be very sneaky!!  Do you have an incubator?? If you do, you might try putting them in and see if they hatch. . .  otherwise, it is what it is.  Sorry. As you said live and learn.

My bator is still too full, so I put them in the hatcher for a few days. It may kill them, but its the only chance they will get for now. Lol I can switch them over Tuesday.

this is my breeder's palm tom turkey.

I know NADA about turkeys and was just wanting to ask you all....does he seem to be a nice turkey, or from stock? also can you eat palms? how many days does it take for turkey poults? can they hatch early too?
