~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

the way I'm thinking about dealing with the water is to have the kiddy swimming pool up on a frame with a dish drain and a large PVC pipe to drain the water into the low area around my fruit trees. but yeah I'm sure their are people that would love a experienced hatcher hatch their eggs then have to buy or make a incubator they are only going to use once or twice
I might try that sometime.

Humiodity can be managed in diferent ways. I have use AC to bring it down ,a nd use jars of water with sponges poking out; 3-4 if necessary.

I have muscovy which don't need as much water apparently. Ihave kiddie sandboxes that I fill with water. Even in the winter I will give them not cold water to swim once a week or so. And keep bowls of water for them othewise.

Oh poor kitty!!!
Ive heard that Moscovy don't need much water. I wasnt sure how true it was. Not sure the DH will go for it but MAYYYBE

Had 14 little fluffs hatch out today-- out of 15 egs under a broody muscovy hen. I also like that these birds are quiet-- NO quacking. A quiet hissing sort of sound, and they wiggle their tail when I talk to them. We rally like them. THis is a perching type bird, a bit different than other ducks.

we where worried because we thought he was going to lose the eye but he only needed two stitches who knew you could stitch up a eye?

Penelope has been out in the world with the poults for three days now. She still has all six (I had to fetch the last one out of the feed shed and take it to her when she first went walkabout). Mostly stays at the upper edge of the barnlot, or just inside, sometimes dust-bathes in the road. There are nine cats. One is an avian specialist.
It's kind of like having a 15yo with a drivers' license.... who never HAS to come home for food & cash. I am not insane. YET.

OMG that is so cute:love but those look almost exactly like the striped chicks i got from the feed store:oops:
if you look at guinea when they are alert. The stand more upright than chickens, have more of a cone shape to their beak and the heads are never proportioned to their body (body always bigger) and they make more of a worbbley/ drawn out cheeping.
I'll post a pic tomorrow of one alert so you can see.
