Third time around Tampa Bay Area Chicken Swap - Saturday, January 28th

Hmm... I don't remeber what the 4 "H"s stand for, I'll ask my mom. It is an organization for kids that promotes learning about agriculture/ raising livestock/ and such. Most of them are very active in showing animals at fairs and other livestock shows. It is more popular in more rual farming areas, but we do have a small chapter here in Pinellas.

Thank you ladies..I just kept reading about 4H this and that....had me wondering! lol...btw...did you see my tractor model? I got bored! lol

Thanks, Lisa! I forgot to ask my Mom at church yesterday.

I talked to Wayne yesterday, and he will be bringing more racing pigeons, Turkeys (Midget whites, I think), Welsumers, and Ameraucanas to to swap!

I'd love to go - have family in Lutz I can visit, and a friend who lives on the beach in St. Pete I can stay with for the weekend. I have no idea where I would keep the chicks I'd buy if i stayed with my friend... chicks in an apartment for a day and a half? I'd have to bring my lamp and stand and chick feeders and waterers along. Anyone ever done that?

Are chicks okay to travel for a while? How do I keep them warm on a car ride?

Yep, we are still on! I just talked to Sandy aka "Fowl Mom" from Martin Farms, and she has a whole mess of chicks to sell - Ams, RIRs, New Hampshire, BR, Wyandotts, Astrolops, and possibly a few others, depending on what she gets in from the hatchery. She's hatching out some others at schools, too.

Lana, I'd be happy to hang on to your chicks for a day! They should be fine on a car ride in a box to keep the body heat in, just don't blast your AC.
That goes for everyone - if you want to leave them here for a few hours and go explore my funky little city, feel free - the new Dali Museum, the beach, the restaurants, the galleries.... the list goes on.

My BF ran into a couple looking for full grown layers today, so if you have any bring them by! Anyone have call ducks?
