This Can't be Normal!!

Is there a breed of chicken that lays nothing but double yokes? The fruit market here sells eggs and they claim they are all double yokes. They are brown and huge, you get a flat of 18 eggs for $6. I haven't bought any yet but was wondering, because I always thought like most of you here that it was just a fluke.

I own a pullet whose Buff Orp mother comes from a line of Orps known for laying double yolkers. Meg herself started out by laying a double yolk every other time then slacked off some. Those at the market may be from a line like that.

I've wanted to buy some to try them, but don't really need them as my girls give me plenty of eggs. Besides, if I did they might think that I am cheating on them.

I had an egg today that the shell was almost white. Typically, my girls
produce brown eggs. Should I turn a light on so they continue to lay or
is this rest period a natural rest time that should not be disturbed?
Thanks, I am a new chick mom, we have 6 girls and one very ornory
rooster!

As long as everything is else is fine with the birds, double yolkers are perfectly normal...

When Obelisk started laying, I got:
half shells
no shells
jawbreaker looking eggs-eggs within eggs within eggs

It's pretty amazing the differences in eggs...we've had VERY large jumbos that were double yolkers, very thin shelled eggs, and even double shelled eggs. It's kinda a surprise every morning!!

This is the WEIRDEST thing. Our three hens have been laying for about a month now. So far we have gotten 2 double yolkers! (one we know is a double and the other we just got this morning is huge, so I'm guessing it's a double yolker) My poor girl! the egg weighs like a 1/4 of her weight it soooo weird!
I got an 88 gram egg. That's almost a quarter of a pound. It was not a double yolker. I think I have gotten one double. I have WLH that lay in the 79-84 range. Nada doubles.
