This Can't Be Real...

Ah that's great you've got loads! Yes use a toothbrush during washing, when putting on the soap. Then use a dry soft baby brush after the bird it dry to fluff up :)

Oh right haha oops! I thought you mean your princess was male, guess it would have been a funny name though :gig

If you do wash them you'll have to post some photos! It usually takes me around 30 mins to get my Silkies dry, it can depend on the general room temp too which can make it faster.

My cuckoo Silkie (Audrey) is housed with my mams flock. She's with the Brahmas and Light Sussex etc. She's just gone broody so we may get some eggs for under her.

I do have a art site page thing I made for my photography. It has some of my birds on I could link you if you wanted to have a look.

Here are my two Quail. They're Coturnix so they're bigger than the button Quails. I hatched 6 of their chicks so they are here too:

Hello, glad you are interested in my photography!

There is a lot of photos I'm still to upload, it's a tiring process. The site I use isn't really the best for photography but it was a recommended one so I'm giving it a go.

I can send you a link over message if you wish? :)

Please do!

Do any of you guys think I should do a general flock thread for my silkies?

That way anyone that is interested in seeing what chicks I hatch, how they do at shows, their daily antics and also regular photos of them can just watch the thread and voila!

I currently have a mix match of threads and it's pretty difficult keeping track and remembering to post and reply on each :)

I think a general thread would be a great idea. I'd be your first subscriber. Gotta get my poof bird fix :drool

Hm well the shampoo I use isn't blue it has sort of a pearlescent look to it. I think the dilution directions are so that it lasts longer. I don't think it will causing burning to her. If anything, it may cause it to colour her feathers blue if you use it without diluting it. Although, I'm not 100% sure!

Do you have an old washing bottle or even just a drink so bottle? I'd put some in there and premix with water ready for use just to be safe. If it was me, I'd just put a cap full in, fill the bottle with water and shake, ready to go!

Haha those famous words 'supposed to be a sexed pullet' :lau at least he's still got a pretty name!

Yes Audrey likes the bigger chickens for some reason, she's more feisty. She's never sat or hatched eggs before but I think she'd do fine! I do have PomPom who came second in the show sitting on 5 eggs now. She was a determined broody so she got what she wanted in the end.

I'll send you a PM later on and you are free to look through my photos. It's still I work in progress but I'm getting there! :)

The Quails have already gone to a loving home as pets. They called one Toe Nail...

They were older than in the photo, all fully feathered little white fluff balls!

Yes males do fight, even worse than roosters in my opinion. They do a kind of slow torture of one another. Picking away at the back of other males heads and end up scalping them.
Some do get along but it's always safe to just keep one male or non at all :)
Ok, I'll add a cap to my tub and mix some in a bottle too. And I will try to be careful to not dye her purple. I read some reviews of people using it on horses and they did a line of it down the spine and wound up with a horse with a purple dorsal stripe for weeks. XD If I do end up with a purple pompom I'll post pics. I'm just a little nervous because people say to leave it in for 5-10 min, and I'm not sure if she'll get stained in that time...

Now, should you only put the soap through the feathers with a toothbrush? Not use your fingers to make a lather like when you wash your hair or a dog or whatever?

Yeah, he's fabulous. I keep trying to think of a different name, but Reebee is so stuck in my head I'm not sure I'll ever manage to change it. What's a good name for a sweet RIR boy? I can't think of anything that sounds right.

Aw, I wish I could see the white fluff balls. I bet they were adorable. Toe Nail is an...interesting choice for a name...not my first choice, but whatever makes them happy I guess. Quail won't know the difference.

I'd probably leave it on for the 5 mins whilst you brush it through with the brush I wouldn't wait till the ten mins.

I make a lather up in my hands then you can rub it over them but I don't like to scrub my birds since it could cause feathers to fall out before a show. That's why I use the toothbrush and it's gets through the feathers better than fingers do.

Hmm...if he was one of mine, I'd probably have called him Reginald or something old like that :lau

Yes the name Toe Nail was definitely something well...unique
