This can't be what I was told it was... or can it?

I bought 6 chickens from a local guy who had some 2 week old chicks. He told me the hen was a Golden Comet and the rooster was a Buff Orpinton. From what I've seen of pictures of both of these breeds, these two chickens don't even come close to resembling either of them. This is them at 4 weeks or so. They do not have hairy feet/legs at all.

Any help on what breed these are would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure why you would expect feathered feet or shanks as none of the parent stock are supposed to carry this trait?

I put that part on there because on so many of the questions similar to mine, the first thing people ask is "do they have hairy feet?" Since I have no idea what the parents are (considering they don't look like Golden Comets or Buff Orpingtons that I was told the parents were) I thought it best to include all pertinent information.

They are basically mutts drawing on the backgrounds of three breeds - orpingtons and the two breeds used to produce the red sex link (golden comets). The multitude of genetic combinations can produce a variety of colors in the progeny.

If the hen was a golden comet, then she was most likely a production red crossed with a white rock. Given that hybrid breeding and adding Orpington, you will most likely not get anything that resembles the parents.

I going to assume that a couple of those other chicks DO look golden in color? So the guy had it partially right. No, those two chicks are ringers. I don't know why people "make stuff up" when they sell other people chickens, but such is this deal, I'm afraid. You'll just have to see how those two mature and what they may become.
