So I’m currently incubating eggs and I had the first hatch about 36 hours ago. He went from internal pip to hatching in less than 12 hours. His siblings are taking a bit more time. I was concerned at first because one had externally pipped but 36 hours later…..But I did some reading and it said to candle the egg to kind of gauge where the chick was at in terms of needing assistance. Well, I gently picked it up to candle it and it yelled at me. So I put it back and apologized for the interruption. When checking on them a few minutes ago, another egg I’d previously thought had maybe died because I didn’t hear anything from it was starting to unzip. So my clutch wanted to take a little longer than average. I guess they’re a little lazy. Except for the first one, who I guess just stole all the energy from his siblings to hatch first and then scream at them to hatch faster. Older siblings *sigh* they always think they can boss their siblings around.

That is one of the best hatching stories I've ever heard. So relatable *sigh*

Update: my 36 hour pip finally hatched. Turns out it was malpositioned and took more time. Another chick also slithered out while I was home, which was cool because I heard it hatch. All three are doing fine and dandy.
