This chicken is not dead

My husband called me at work one day and said he was rushing home. A neighbor had called to say he thought something was wrong with our horse Boo. He was just laying flat in the pasture and didn’t move when called to come to the fence for treats (which is when we found out the neighbor had been sneaking him treats lol).
Husband also called our friend who was a deputy sheriff to see if he was patrolling close to the house. When husband got home, he almost couldn’t get in the driveway. There were two sheriff’s cars and one local PD’s police car in the driveway (for manpower to pick the horse up) and the county mounted patrol truck
and trailer was on the way in case the horse needed to go to the vet.

The deputies said when they walked out in the pasture, Boo looked at them, got up, did the big full body “shake and stretch”, then calmly walked to his stall and started eating some hay.

After that, many times over the years, we would see him happily asleep flat out in the pasture.

Bravo Boo, definitely an award winning act!

You know you’re in farm country when half the county shows up to help get a horse or cow up.

Too funny! But really awesome to hear that people care though ♥️

The GM Peter, at Sears called me one day to say he was watching my horse on the barn cam and she hadn’t moved in 20 minutes. This was waaaay back in 2002-ish when cameras were new, I didn’t have high speed so I set mine to take a photo every 15seconds and send to my website.

Seems that my server at home froze and the image remained the same. Did cause me some worry till I noted the time stamp. Peter was happy to know Malaka was ok. But it’s nice that people were looking out for my horses (instead of working hahaha)!

I still keep in contact with him after all these years 😊♥️
