This chicken is not dead

We have our giant flock of five pullets in our small city backyard on a corner lot with lots of walkers going by.

I’m enjoying the thought of going out on the back porch (better yet, my husband going out) and hollering, “Hoochie Mama! C’mere Hoochie Mama!” It would not go over well. 🤪
Years ago, my cousin adopted an all black puppy. He was born on Halloween and had a tiny bit of silver around his eyes that made him look like he was wearing spooky glasses. She named him "Spook." She lived in a quiet midwestern town, unaware that her pup's cute Halloween name was a derogatory nickname in many places.
Move ahead a few years and her company transferred her to West Virginia. This was a much busier place than where she grew up, and had a much more diverse population. It was also during a time when it was not a good idea for a lone woman to stand on her back porch at night calling, "Here Spook!" Spook very quickly became "Pookie" and all went well from there on!

We had a tuxedo cat my mom named Sambo, not aware that it might be considered derogatory. He became Sam.

I like to give little Micky a good scratching occasionally. He is almost always on his own because all the other chickens seem to dislike him. The I have to be careful when I pick him up though. The cute little devil bites.

And yet again the song…… thanks I’ll be singing that alllll day now 😉♥️

Hey Micky you’re so fine…. Even if you’re a wee brat for biting!

She does tend to get into things she shouldn't. But is fortunately calm about it, so she doesn't injure herself (or the people helping her out of her situation)

My old stallion was like that. He was caught up in Barb wire one day and just stood there neighing for me to come and rescue him. Not a scratch on him! He was a great little horse.

Sheesh!!!
She also got stuck in a fence, but the tree tops that. (Please hope I didn't jinx it...)

As for sleeping animals, I have to watch to make sure they're breathing/moving.
Then I can relax and find them cute.

It's just scarier with horses since they can't be down too long. (Except for the foals...)

So glad this thread is still going with pictures of un-dead chickens. No matter how many times you see it, they sometimes make your heart skip a beat.
Today my Polish Martina had her face straight down in her bathing hole and stopped moving. I thought she suffocated
