This could get controversial: Trueblood VS Twilight

And yes, Anne Rice takes the cake over everyone else. No one can write a vampire like she can. I have most of her books, started reading them when my High School English teacher turned me on to the books. I have read all of her stuff 3 or 4 times.

My favorte Vampire Chronicles books are Blackwood Farm and Blood and Gold. I suggest reading the series in order, but if you dont want to, read those two for sure!

ETA and Queen of the darn is a different story altogether from the movie. MUCH better

The Witching Hour series is very good and she loops them all back together all three series. Amazing! Her other books are good too. Liked The Mummy, Violin, Servant of the BOnes, A Cry to Heaven, and The Feast of All Saints.

Read Belinda - under her Name Ann Rampling Not bad. But different.

Her Life of Christ series is fabulous. And how she came to write them is an amazing story in and of itself.

The movies are good but no where near as entertaining as the books.

Silkie - they aren't so much "love stories" but life stories about human frailty and consequence of actions. I think the regret and loneliness that her characters find once they become immortal is very profound. It's like they want so desperately to be different and special but once they are there, the full awesomeness of the responsibility they have accepted hits home and that is the battle in accepting the trueness of their choices - and for some the pain of being forced into a life they had no desire to have. Lestat is the epitome of the angst ridden suffering soul.

loved both series as books! I like the twilight movies but the true blood goes off the story too much, but I still watch it. I think I should stick to reading i'm more of a book worm that couch potato . I think both shows should have done some(not all) different actors/actresses .

So,

So far I have come to the conclusion that the Southern Vampire Chronicles and Trueblood the show are completely different.

In season one, the main theme was the serial killer, Renee. Did this happen in the books?

In season two, Maryann was causing problems... Did she exist in the books?

In season three, it seems werewolves will be prominent. Again, are they in the books?

Ah, so you read Blackwood huh?

Good stuff, and some interesting takes on history too. Not just your usual textbook (written by the victors and usually doesn't include a whole lot of daily life type stuff)...

Twilight wise I did find it freakin' hilarious that the town practically worships SAINT Marcus... that was too funny
