I dont get it either. I also dont understand half the things they say. I get random ramblings but the games and RPs....makes no sense. I remember a time when you went on Neopets, chatted on AOL and when you were bored checked out Ebaumsworld. I understand if some of these younger people need an outlet because their parents may not allow them on social media...but theres a reason they dont allow them on social media! This is a chicken site and should remain just that

I will say, back when I first joined, there was a definite clique--they'd go off on tangents too.

Anyway, I'm sticking around. Chickens are too fun to give up a forum dedicated to them!

I dont think they should be removed. I just dont get it. I'm more inclined to help and inform. I just feel we should get back to that. Plus the other bird forums are a vast array of knowledge. If it werent for the pigeon forum I wouldnt have been able to save a sick bird that wandered onto my property.

I feel like, if the whole site was dedicated to helping and informing, it could potentially create liability for the site owners. So I can understand having lots of socially-oriented forums, to dilute from the advice function of BYC and keep it light hearted and casual.

Not sure how it could cause a liability but thats not in my frame of reference. Either way very eloquently put on your part. I guess I never saw it that way. I appreciate you switching my perspective

I prefer having the other sections besides the actual animal ones it helps keep people coming and going (more active). And I dont see where this is not social media. Its literally socializing on media how much more can it be. Overall the website is helpful but just like real life interactions sometimes you just gonna have to deal with stupid people. The problems start unfortunately when they don't know they are stupid so its hard for them to self police.

I’m confused. What do you want to happen? The creation of chat threads (or even roleplay threads) in GJ&F and random ramblings isn’t spreading misinformation or stopping people from helping others. Chat threads in the correct sections don’t have any negative impact on you or any member of this forum. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s bad.

If you’re targeting the argumentative and disruptive posters on this site, it’s strange that you singled out a specific chat thread which, as far as I can tell, has never harmed you or anyone else. That’s all.
